Putting the multi-million show on the road
In August 06 the venerable technology research house Forrester published the following findings around Enterprise mobility having interviewed over a thousand technology decision makers in North America and Europe about trends in their organisations telecom and mobility environments. The key points were:-
- “Mobile budgets are growing faster than legacy telecom services”
- “Creating a mobile policy tops the list of IT/Telecoms projects”
- “Many firms are centralising mobile management”
In addition it is very clear that employees are using more mobile applications. According to mobile technology and services decision-makers, nearly 75% of firms have fully or partially deployed wireless email or BlackBerry services to support mobile workers. 68% of companies have deployed mobile apps for managing personal contacts and calendar, 42% have deployed employee content type mobile apps and 34% have deployed instant messaging. In addition 29% of executives have deployed some customer facing mobile apps.
Some illuminating findings on the state of Enterprise mobility can be seen from the following diagram
